I finished reading The Digital Photography Book, Volume 1 by Scott Kelby. I finally finished volume one months after reading The Digital Photography Book, Volume 2. I read the books out of order because I thought volume 2 was a second edition. But in fact it’s not a second edition it’s more of a sequel. I found this book more interesting than volume 2 because the second book had more information for studio photographers. Volume 1 has tons of helpful tips for landscape, sports, people, and travel photography. These styles are much more interesting to me because I don’t see myself ever having a studio. I look forward to seeing what information Scott’s third volume contains.

I recommend Scott Kelby’s books to anyone looking to learn about photography. The books are easy to read and well written. He doesn’t bog you down with the minute details of digital photography. He shows you a picture and how to setup your camera to shoot something similar. I find Scott’s style more helpful than understanding exactly how the CMOS sensor in my camera works, like some books try to teach. The books are geared toward Nikon and Canon cameras but anyone can use the information in the book if you have your cameras manual. After reading his Digital Photography Books I’m planning to ready Scott’s Photoshop and Lightroom books.
