Finished Reading The Digital Photography Book, Volume 2

One of my new years resolutions was to learn a new hobby and I picked photography. In January I purchased a Nikon D90 kit with two lenses. I love the camera and I have taken tons of pictures since I got it. But I wanted to learn how to make my pictures look more professional. Scott Kelby’s book came highly recommended. I finished reading The Digital Photography Book, Volume 2 while we were in Washington DC. After I started reading the book I quickly realized this is not really just a second edition. This book is meant to be read in conjunction with the first book. I don’t have the first book and couldn’t find it while on vacation so I read volume 2 without the knowledge from the first book. The book talks a lot about studio lighting and setting up studios, which I have no interest in. However I did learn a good deal from the book. I hope some of what I learned will show in my DC pictures. I plan to post some of my DC pictures on Flickr after I go through them all.

I recommend this book to anyone looking to improve their photos. I learned a lot of tips and tricks and I’m planning to read The Digital Photography Book and I will most likely read The Digital Photography Book, Volume 3 when it comes out later this year.

I began programming in C++ when I was in college. Odd for a business major, but hey I am a Dork. After college I got a job as System Administrator. As a System Administrator I was in charge of web administration. My journey as a PHP web developer had begun. Since that time I have gained an in depth knowledge of CSS, Javascript, XML and MySQL. With changes and advances to technology I have also began learning AJAX. I started Blue Fire Development to do freelance work in my spare time.
