2009 New Year’s Resolutions – First Quarter Update
Today it dawned on me the reason people don’t meet their New Year’s Resolutions is the lack of accountability and self evaluation. It’s hard not to be held accountable for my resolutions, because I published them online. Since, we are a quarter of the way into 2009 I decided to re-evaluation the progress of my resolutions. I plan to do quarterly updates in hopes that I can achieve all my resolutions.
Here is the progress of my 2009 New Year’s Resolutions.
- Read at least book a week
My reading has been going very good. Because my commute to work is so long I have been listening to audio books. Not exactly reading, but I get into the book just as much as if I physically read the book. I have read/listened to 21 books year to date. That is an average of almost two books a week. - Lose 25 pounds
I’m right on target with my weight loss. So far I have lost almost 12 pounds. I started off the year at 215 and today I weighed in at 203.5 pounds. - Eat better
My eating has been better. I still have a weak spot for candy and desert. I started replacing some meals with a protein shake to help control my caloric intake. Overall, I’m doing better but still have a ways to go. - Finish Project “Aâ€
This project is still moving along. Not as fast as it could be. But, I spend 9 to 10 hours a day in the car or working. I’m maybe a month away from finishing this project and bring the site online. - Start Project “Bâ€
Originally this was an idea for DVD sharing website. After some evaluation and research I decided to cancel this project. I found some existing sites that had a similar function and those sites didn’t seem too caught on. The idea had some other logistical challenges that made me cancel the project. - Learn a new hobby
For my Birthday / Christmas present I got a Nikon D90 DSLR camera. The camera is great and I’m starting to learn more about photography. I still have a lot to learn and I need to get out more with my camera. - Keep dating my wife
Like my other resolutions this one could be better. If you include the eating out and the time we spend together we are doing great. For Salli’s Birthday we went to Portland, OR. and saw Wicked. Salli hasn’t been feeling well so we haven’t been leaving the house that much. - Focus on goals
If you count this evaluation and the fact that our savings is back on track my goals are moving along.
